Listen
The first step to learning Irish, is just listening to its sounds.
The tracks feature native speakers and will play automatically, one after the other.
Tracks taken from LibriVox.
The sounds of Irish are not the sounds of English.
English is the mother tongue of most Irish learners, so they use English sounds (phonology) when speaking Irish.
This is perfectly natural and expected.
Irish has its own unique sounds, quite apart from English, but most learners do not recognise them.
And if you cannot hear the unique sounds of a language, then you will not make those sounds when you speak it.
So, just listen along and train your ear for Irish.
